Christopher and I had a delightful weekend. We took Telula to the doggy park, started adding things to our wedding registry, addressed a lot of our Save the Dates, got takeout from one of our favorite restaurants, and celebrated Christopher's birthday. His birthday is actually tomorrow, but Gizzae (a Chicago reggae band) was in town so we went to see them. Christopher got a picture with the lead singer the last time they were in town in August. The guy remembered him and where the picture was taken. I had to tease Chris that he's probably the only male that asks for a picture with the band.... :)

Very cute outfit! Sounds like you had a fun weekend! I admit, every time you mentioned STD's I had to force myself not to giggle like a child...so yeah don't worry about never growing up, there should be a group...one not run by Peter Pan, unless he's awesome then he can lead us.
ReplyDeleteI love that you went shopping and bought a new cardigan ASAP! My kinda gal! I have really enjoyed keeping tabs on you this remix!
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is really easy to make.
ReplyDelete- You want two types of fabric, the lace fabric and a cotton fabric for underneath.
- Measure your hips and cut the fabric at least two/three inches larger and length wise several inches longer than you need it to be.
- The trickiest bit of this whole skirt is putting the elastic in and even that isn't too hard.
- place the fabric together and fold over so the lace is visible over the plain fabric which is obviously the inside fabric.
- You need to sew straight across leaving a gap slightly wider than the elastic you've chosen. My elastic was maybe a cm in width and I bought a metre of it to ensure I had plenty....major overkill.
- Now you've effectively sewn both pieces of fabric together take your elastic and attach a safety pin to the elastic and guide it through the top of the skirt. The safety pin makes it easier to guide through.
- Once you have the elastic through tighten it to around your waist measurement and turning the skirt inside out sew the fabric together.
- You now effectively have a skirt it just needs to be hemmed.
- The way I hem it is I tried it on and I wanted the inside fabric to be shorter by two inches roughly than the lace.
- I pin the inside fabric then pin the lace longer.
- Pull the lace up and hem the inside fabric and cut away any excess fabric, then hem the lace and voilĂ you have a skirt.
Really simple and my instructions hopefully aren't too confusing.
I would be so absolutely happy if I had a snow day...just a special treat :)
