first day / first holding

There was an article in the news yesterday about a (teeny tiny) mall in a (teeny tiny) town that was going to get its medical marijuana license. The only reason the article caught my eye was that the (teeny tiny) mall in the (teeny tiny) town was the location of one of Christopher and my first dates.

In fact, it was the first day we held hands.

This was back when we lived about six hours away from each other. On weekends, we would meet up at his mom's house or my dad's house - both locations completely in opposite directions of each other, but about three hours away from each of us to drive.

On one of the weekends we met up at his mom's house, we headed to the (teeny tiny) mall to go bowling. (Okay. Seriously. What is WITH all these bowling posts?! It just keeps coming up!) Christopher asked for, "Size 14 shoes for her. She has clown feet." I don't. This was the first of many times he has used this joke...nerd. I laughed, but blushed. Christopher claimed he was a horrible bowler, but won with a good 100 point lead.

On the way home, we ended up in the middle of a huge, scary thunderstorm. Christopher was loving it; hail, thunderclaps right above our heads, lightning striking trees in the distance. I was nervous. I had just seen lightning strike a car (okay, I think I saw lightning strike a car) the week before. I tried to pretend like I wasn't frightened, but Christopher knew the truth.

He reached over and covered my hand with his. It was nice. Really nice. And it still is. :)

What I wore... Day #1 (my official 30 lineup pics still to come!)

  15. What a sweet memory!
I have a sleeveless grey dress in my mix, too, and I tried it on with a shirt underneath. I looked like a weird prairie girl. I'm studying your look to figure out how to wear it and still look good.

  16. SOCKS!!! I obviously need pink socks. They're awesome. Especially since you've coordinated with the scarf, and the rest of that very plummy color palette.

And what a cute story. Isn't funny how we remember those firsts"?
