Since we're teachers, my coworkers of course had to research the background of showers. Apparently bridal showers originated because the bride was literally showered with gifts. As in guests put presents in a parasol, closed it, and had the bride open it above her head. My coworkers had a parasol prepared - filled with undies. Ha! Embarrassing! I turn red really easily... so I was glad it was a little dim in the room. Although a bit embarrassing, it was a lot of fun.
What I wore...to the shower:
Shirt: Gap
Cardi: Kohls
Skirt: Target
Tights: Kohls
Necklace: Came with a shirt (also in my 30)
What I wore...within the last week. Two ways to style my blue Gap dress:
Sweater: Elle from Kohls
Dress (as skirt): Gap
Belt: Target
Tights: Walmart
Shoes: Target
Headband: Kohls
Earrings: Charlotte Russe
Dress: Gap
Shirt: Rue 21
Belt: Forever 21
Leggings: Kohls
Boots: Steve Madden
That's very interesting background on the shower...I hadn't known the bit about the parasol.
ReplyDeleteIt's always weird getting undies as gifts. Tights would be cool. Your purple knit tights are awesome! My work bridal shower (14 years ago) was during work and was a surprise. I had my hair in a bun and no makeup (no lipstick) and the pic of my reaction was not flattering. You, however, look adorable!

Your bridal shower must have been super fun! Love the purple tights x
ReplyDeleteI am glad that soft gifts were used in the parasol, I think it would be awkward for the bride who requests ornaments and chunks of marble as a gift.
ReplyDeleteLove the outfits, you're really relaxing into remixing outfits to create something gorgeous, very nice.
