row, row, row... / day 23 & 24

...your boat, gently down a stream. The kindergarten and preschool classes made wooden boats for their Reading Month teams. All the students that qualified* for the event walked down to the stream and raced the boats.

It was so fun to watch the boats float down the little stream. Even better were the grins on the little kids faces when the big kids cheered for the boats they had built.
*The students have to read 60 minutes / a week to qualify for an event each Thursday during Reading Month.

What I wore... I chose my 30th piece to remix. Jeans. Thus, I am no longer going pantless!

arrr maties / 21, & 22

Not only did I rock crazy hair, I've also been a pirate sailor this (Reading) month. Imagine this outfit with red leggings and a red bandana around my neck because that's what I actually wore:

On other days, I wore a shirt that had writing of somewhere I'd been, a readable hat, and a readable button.

I also participated in the teaching staff vs. students' basketball game. The staff lost... by a lot. Our matching (xxl) tshirt jerseys did not save us. I will not include pictures because they're incredibly embarrassing. Yeah, you thought I looked ridiculous on Crazy Hair Day? That silliness doesn't even touch basketball day. Being the worst basketball player known to man, I just made sure to hide behind someone on the student team and I didn't get the ball passed to me often.

Some days I wear normal clothes and hairstyles. Here's a few incredibly awkward shots because my neighbors were staring:

Crazy Hair Day / day 20

I've been taking a little bloggy hiatus to focus on wedding plans and decorations...but I've been busy with other things as well.

I celebrated St. Patrick's Day with my love. We're both Irish, so we get into the holiday. My grandma Nonie is 100% Irish, so my family has always celebrated St. Patrick's with lots of green and cheer.

We're in the 98 percentile / day 19

I've been really slow with the posts, especially my 30x30. This I know. I am le busy. And le tired. But too busy to nap (or fire ze missiles).

Tomorrow, I am presenting The Daily 5 and the science conference I recently attended to my fellow teaching staff. I can talk in front of kids all day, but throw me in front of some adults and I get weak-kneed. So, I am off to prepare. Maybe make a PowerPoint. Maybe write some note cards. Or a flow chart. One can never know with a nerd like me...

P.S. In other news, am I the last one to find out that Ashlee Simpson split with Pete Wentz? I'm not nearly as bummed as I was about Nick&Jessica. But, still surprised. Why do all (almost all) stars break up?

P.P.S. In other (more positive) news, Christopher and I will tie the knot in 51 days. I just learned that while the failure rate of marriage is 50% (or is it more now?), it is only 15% for couples who attend church together, and only 2% for couples who regularly pray together. That makes me feel wonderful. :o)

First shower / day 16, 17, & 18

Last night, I attended my first bridal shower (for me). It was put on by my coworkers. I had a blast. We sipped wine, ate yummy food, had raspberry chocolate cake, and played a few games. I didn't take any pictures, but someone else did. I may (or may not) post some later when she sends them off...

Since we're teachers, my coworkers of course had to research the background of showers. Apparently bridal showers originated because the bride was literally showered with gifts. As in guests put presents in a parasol, closed it, and had the bride open it above her head. My coworkers had a parasol prepared - filled with undies. Ha! Embarrassing! I turn red really easily... so I was glad it was a little dim in the room. Although a bit embarrassing, it was a lot of fun.

What I wore...to the shower:
Shirt: Gap
Cardi: Kohls
Skirt: Target
Tights: Kohls
Necklace: Came with a shirt (also in my 30)

What I wore...within the last week. Two ways to style my blue Gap dress:

Dress (as skirt): Gap
Belt: Target
Tights: Walmart
Shoes: Target
Headband: Kohls
Earrings: Charlotte Russe

Happy Reading Month / day 14 & 15... blazer x2

March is National Reading Month. My school's theme this year is something along the lines of our ancestors and how they arrived to America. There's a fancy name for it, but I can't remember it right now... oops!

This week, we are focusing on the earliest modes of transportation - namely walking. Today, we had a walking suitcase relay. The entire school is split into "families" for the month. Each "family" competed, then the two winners challenged the teachers. The kids had to carry one suitcase, but the teachers were weighted down with three.

Let's just say, even in a blazer, skirt, and not-so-fast-flats, I definitely helped the teachers win.

What I wore...today:
Shirt: Gap
Blazer: Target
Skirt: American Eagle
Tights: Kohls
Shoes: Target
What I wore...last week sometime:
To belt or not to belt?:
Blazer: Target
Dress: Target
Tights: Kohls
Shoes: Target
Belt: Came with a dress
Headband: I made it!
